Web Faery

Handmade websites for real people.

I build small, beautiful websites for one-person businesses — massage therapists, gardeners, makers, healers. Not a template, not a subscription that holds your site hostage. Just a site that sounds like you, that you own outright, cared for by an actual human who writes back.

One woman, start to finish You own every file
How it works

Three visits, like any good house call.

First

We talk

Over tea or a friendly email thread — whatever's comfortable. You tell me about your work, your people, and what the site needs to do. That's the whole meeting.

Then

I build it

A fast, mobile-friendly site designed around your actual practice — your colors, your words, your photos. You see a real draft, not a wireframe, and we shape it together.

Finally

It's yours

The whole site lives in one tidy file under your own account. If we ever part ways, you keep everything and it keeps running.

The quiet part

Most websites watch their visitors. Yours won't.

"If it says it's free, you're the product."

That's the oldest rule of the internet, and it's how most website tools work: "free" and cheap platforms pay for themselves by tracking the people who visit — building advertising profiles out of your clients' clicks, searches, and habits. It has a name: surveillance capitalism. You don't have to participate in it.

The usual deal

  • Trackers and ad pixels ride along on every page, reporting your visitors to companies you've never heard of
  • Your client list, inquiries, and traffic live on a platform's servers, under their terms — read the fine print
  • Cookie pop-ups on every visit, because there's a lot to confess
  • The profiles built from your visitors get monetized — and you see none of it

A site I build you

  • No trackers, no ad pixels, no analytics quietly phoning home
  • When a client writes to you, it goes to you — not into someone's marketing database
  • No cookie banner, because there's nothing to confess
  • Your files, your domain, your client relationships — yours to keep, forever

Your clients trust you with their bodies, their gardens, their homes. A website should honor that trust the same way — quietly, and completely.

Every site gets built with the same care.

Start with In Bloom

Whatever you pick, the site is yours: your files, your accounts, and your web address — bought under your own name, about $12 a year paid straight to the registrar, never through me. Your address points wherever you say, always. And you can pause or cancel the monthly care anytime — the site stays up, and we part as friends.

Fair questions

The things people ask first.

Do I actually own the site?

Yes — completely. The site lives in an account under your name, the domain is registered to you, and the whole thing is one tidy file you could hand to any other web person on earth. When I built Juliet's site, it was designed from day one to be transferred to her outright. That's the standard.

What if I stop paying the monthly?

The site stays up, exactly as it is — the monthly covers my care work, not the site's existence. From there you have three easy doors: come back for a flat-rate update session whenever something needs changing; if you had online booking through me, I'll move it into a scheduler account of your own (its ~$16/mo becomes yours, paid straight to that tool) so appointments never skip a beat; or we switch booking back to a simple contact card and you pay nothing at all. Your call, no hard feelings, door always open.

Why not Squarespace or Wix?

Run the numbers: Wix and Squarespace charge roughly $17–36 a month for a template you build yourself, alone, with a support chatbot. Stop paying, and Squarespace takes your site offline — Wix strips your web address and covers the site in their ads. Either way, the site your clients knew is gone. My plans start at $12 a month for a site I built by hand, tend for you, and that you own outright — it stays up even if you cancel. You're not paying more for a human. You're often paying less.

What if I need a change but I'm not on a plan?

You book a flat-rate update session — bring me your pile of changes — new hours, fresh photos, reworded pages — and I work through it. No plan needed, no per-change haggling. If you find yourself booking sessions every month, one of the care plans will simply be cheaper, and you can hop on (or off) anytime.

Can my site take bookings or payments?

Yes — that's In Bloom territory. I build it on trusted, boring scheduling tools rather than inventing my own, woven in so seamlessly your clients never notice the seams — and I hand you the keys to a simple backend where you set your own hours and manage your own appointments from your phone, no website edit needed. Payments run through Stripe under an account that belongs to you: your clients' money goes straight to you and never passes through me. My job is the wiring, and keeping it humming.

Who owns my web address?

You do — on paper, not just in spirit. Your domain (the yourname.com part) gets bought under your own account, registered to you, about $12 a year paid straight to the registrar. I'll hand you a follow-along guide and I never touch the purchase. It matters because your address is your business's name on the internet — it should answer to you and no one else, not a platform, and not me. If we ever part ways, it points wherever you tell it to.

How much does a site cost to keep running?

Almost nothing — that's part of the point. Hosting for a hand-built site like this is free, and your domain name (the yourbusiness.com part) runs about $12 a year, paid straight to the registrar under your own account. There is no meter running in the background and no platform fee waiting to surprise you.

Will people find me on Google?

The sites are built to be found: they load fast, work beautifully on phones, and are written the way search engines like — all things Google genuinely rewards. On the care plans I also help with local search: making sure your Google map listing, your pages, and your wording match what neighbors actually type when they look for someone like you. What I won't do is promise you'll outrank a national chain — anyone who promises that is selling something.

How long does it take?

You'll see a real first draft — your name, your words, a design made for you — within about a week of our first conversation. Most sites are live within two to three weeks, and the slowest part is usually gathering your photos, not the building.

Can you work with what I already have?

Usually, yes. If you've got an old site, a logo, a shoebox of photos, or just a business card you like, we start from there. If you have nothing but the work itself, that's enough too.
